Junkyard Horse?

For the past few years we’ve been passing this junkyard on our way up to the big city for provisions. One day we noticed piles of horse poop so we paid a little more attention next time we went by. Sure enough, there was a horse in there! I have never before seen a “junkyard horse”. I wonder if he bites. :-)

Looks pretty thin. Toss him/her some hay.

the junkyard horse looks a little on the skinny side…I see ribs!

With all that stuff around he’s probably pretty spook free.

Yeah, some hay and some treats, too!

He does look like he needs a sandwich. I actually took this photo last summer as we were passing by but I noticed on a recent trip that the horse is still there.

Skinny indeed, and in addition to all the perils inside the fence, chain link is a no-no for horses! Poor thing.

i think that horse looks like its starving. you can see the spine protruding. can you call the animal control in that area and report this? do you have a horse rescue in your area? Seriously, that is like a 2 on the body scale, not good. please, please report this to the proper authorities.

UPDATE on this horse: First of all, this picture was taken last spring or summer, so it’s kind of old. I drove by this place this morning and noted that there is a hay ring in there that has the remains of a round bale in it (about 1/4). On my way back, the horse was at the feeder, eating hay, and he looks pretty good. Good coat, little bit of a belly too. So other than the less-than-ideal living quarters, he’s doing pretty well.
