Merry Christmas!

A belated Merry Christmas to all (and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, we hope you had a great day, too). We’ve been busy this Christmas season and I have to admit we didn’t hang stockings for our horses or do anything really special for them this year besides feed them peppermint horse snacks Christmas day. We did give (and receive) various horse/western gifts. How about you? Did you do anything special for your horses this year? Any interesting horse gifts?
My horses don’t like peppermint sticks, and I’m afraid I don’t really do much more for them on Christmas. I did get a bag of apple flavored treats under the tree, however, which they’ll soon be diving into!
Well, my horse (read I did) offered me a wonderful Mountain Horse riding jacket. As for him, since gave him a new Stubben dressage saddle last summer, he wasn’t wanting much except for Apples and other goodies which he got and was very happy about.
Besides that, he makes me happy and I make him happy. That a never ending gift, ain’t it? Happy holidays to you and yours.

Well I had plans to feed my mare a hot mash with apples, shredded carrots and peppermint pieces, but it didn’t pan out…
I took my painted girl out for a ride in the snow on Christmas Eve, and when we were on our way back home, she spooked at a snowman and she went one way…and I went the other…and got my foot snagged in the stirrup on the way down.
Seems I won’t be able to ride for months now. My ACL and Meniscus are probably damaged and torn. I’m just praying I won’t need surgery.
Great way to start off 2009, eh?
I’m so sad.
Merry Christmas you guys. That’s a great picture of your horses running together,

Oh gosh, Lisa, that’s terrible! I hope you feel better soon and don’t need surgery. I just read the in depth account on your website - wow, things can go wrong so quickly, can’t they? I’m glad to see you were wearing a helmet. Are you worried you’ll be afraid to ride again?
Hi there! Just dropped in for the first time. Had to go back to the start to find the part about having a horse for the first time, since you guys seem very comfortable with your (four!) horses. Congratulations!
We went for a wonderful trail ride on Christmas day, which reminds me that I have still to blog about it.
That said, over at our end (which is in West Africa - my house mate and I work as volunteers for the Eden Foundation in Niger and have four barb horses in our yard - two of them fillies, one was born just this week!). We didn’t get our horses anything extra on Christmas day, but our young Rhodesian Ridgeback pup got new squeeky toys!
Warm greetings from West Africa!
