A Public Apology to My Horse

Something has been weighing on my conscience. I have unjustly accused my horse of clumsiness several times. Okay, the accusations weren’t all unjustified, but one of them was – when I hinted that he had fallen on his side and been plastered with mud. The truth is…he did it on purpose. I know this because our black horses often come back from the pasture as brown horses:

My black...er...brown horse

I also know this because we’ve seen them doing it, and it’s hysterical!

Proof! My horse rolling

Maybe horses are a little bit like big dogs!

Okay, I feel better now. Sorry, Valentine.

Mikki, I just found your blog page and I can honestly say how entertaining it is. My 11-yr old daughter is a horse fanatic who daily begs me for a horse and takes lessons thru our local YMCA weekly. I have very little experience around horses but learning a lot thru my dear daughter and the stables where she rides. We live in the suburbs north of Cincinnati, Ohio and perhaps someday she will get her wish if I can convince the hubby to move to a little more rural area.

Thank you for you sharing your humorous insight in to the joys and pains of first-time horse ownership. I look forward to following along your ride and appreciate you allowing all your readers to do so!

Kendra, thank you so much! It’s so great that other people enjoy our experiences too. I hope you and your daughter will get your wish – good luck convincing hubby! We are so happy to have moved away from the city. It’s not for everyone, I know, but if you don’t mind giving up Starbucks and 14-screen theaters, it’s pretty great.
